Alex Hernandez
President
Alex Hernandez is President of Hernandez, consisting of Hernandez Construction and Hernandez Development Services. He leads and manages the operations and strategic direction of the companies, providing a full range of commercial construction and development services.

Mr. Hernandez has over 30 years of experience in the real estate development and construction industries. He joined Stiles in 1996, where he held many diverse positions including Preconstruction Manager, Project Manager and still maintains an active role as Director of Business Development. In 2002, he partnered with Stiles to form Hernandez Construction and Hernandez Development Services. As President, he has led the company’s growth, establishing Hernandez Construction as a market leader in the delivery of commercial and industrial construction in South Florida. Mr. Hernandez’s experience encompasses many areas of construction including hospitality, healthcare, residential, commercial, industrial, tenant improvement, manufacturing, retail, automotive and public sector work. Over his distinguished career, Mr. Hernandez has managed over ten million square feet of tilt wall buildings including facilities for several Fortune 100 companies. Under his leadership, Hernandez Construction has received numerous industry awards and accreditations including LEED Certification, Community Appearance Awards and the Associated Builders’ Safety Award.
Don Woods
Sr. Vice President – Construction
Don Woods has a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in the construction industry. As Senior Vice President at Hernandez, he is responsible for all of the company’s construction operations, company staff functions and infrastructure development operations. He provides leadership, establishes benchmarks, and monitors assigned projects to ensure completion in a cost-effective, on-time and professional manner.

Don began his career with large-scale, design-build development, working for self-performing companies in the Midwest. He has served in a number of diverse roles across the Southeast over the years, working his way from hands-on roles in the field to construction executive and management roles delivering a variety of complex Industrial/Manufacturing facilities for Fortune 100 clients including Boeing and Honda. Don prides himself on maintaining positive and successful relationships with clients and everyone involved on the project teams. Mr. Woods is experienced in all aspects of construction management on projects ranging from $1 million to $2.2 billion, including contract negotiations. His extensive experience in various construction market sectors will allow Hernandez to strategically expand its platform and further penetrate key market segments through the diversification of service offerings.
Thomas Burkett
Sr. Vice President – Finance
Thomas Burkett is a highly skilled financial professional with notable experience in accounting, sales tax auditing and financial modeling. As VP of Finance for Hernandez, Thomas will oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial
statements, annual budgets, bonding, reporting, management of all project accounting functions, and tax compliance documentation. He will also ensure company compliance with financial reporting standards.

Previously, Tom was Controller for Golden Sands General Contractors. Before that he was responsible for managing the $130M annual budget at Sheltair Aviation in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He developed a plan that enabled the company to restructure its debt into a $200M credit facility, ultimately reducing the annual cost of the company’s debt by 4%. Tom also served as a Sales Tax Auditor III with the Florida Department of Revenue, where he conducted sales tax audits. He holds a Masters of Accountancy from Nova Southeastern University.
Stephen Sandefur, MBA, LEED AP BD+C, HCC
Vice President – Construction Management
As VP of Construction Management, Stephen is responsible for all aspects of Hernandez’s construction operations. Stephen brings strong leadership, beneficial new alliances and strategic partnerships to support Hernandez Construction’s performance and growth efforts. He is currently overseeing and leading Hernandez’s geographical expansion across Chicago and Indianapolis while continuing to advance their presence in the Midwest market.

Mr. Sandefur brings over 30 years of construction and engineering experience, with a strong a diverse background. He is MBA educated, LEED accredited and is healthcare construction certified. He has extensive executive management experience including leadership, planning, budgeting, scheduling, forecasting and operations for construction, engineering, manufacturing warehouse, pharmaceutical, aviation, healthcare, real estate and facilities management fields. On both large and small projects alike, Stephen pays attention to the bottom line and is always willing to work toward new and innovative solutions. He efficiently and effectively manages personnel, costs, quality, service and schedule while maintaining a safe, productive and profitable environment.
Daniel Norris
Vice President – Pre-Construction
Daniel Norris has been involved with over 4 million SF of built environments during his career. As Vice President of Pre-construction, he provides leadership, serves as the liaison between project team members to promote the interest of both the business and clients in all matters, and is committed to Safety First by assuring that all employees have and maintain safe working conditions.

Mr. Norris leverages his diverse background as an Estimator, Project Executive, and Superintendent to oversee the planning, design and construction of a project from beginning to completion, while keeping tight control of the project’s time, cost and quality. He provides management oversight for all phases of the construction project ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Dan prides himself in cultivating successful client relationships while maintaining the highest level of integrity.
Joe Goss
Sr. Vice President – Development Services
Joe Goss is responsible for overseeing development management services for the organization, including monitoring the progress of projects against goals, objectives, approved budgets and approved timelines. He is a strong communicator and facilitates project strategy meetings with owners, design professionals, subcontractors and the Hernandez team in order to ensure the success of each and every project.

Mr. Goss has over 30 years of construction experience across a range of sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Education, Hospitality and Public work. Most recently, he worked as the Vice President of Construction for Industrial Development International (IDI), where he oversaw more than 3.4 million square feet of development and construction. Joe has also held leadership roles at Centex Rooney and Moss & Associates, where he was a part of many notable projects, including Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Paradise Island’s Atlantis Resort.
Michael Falke
Sr. Vice President – Construction
As Director of Tenant Coordination, Michael serves as a liaison with the client plus all project team members including leasing, planning, design, construction and finance teams regarding landlord scope of work, budget, schedule and phasing related to tenant premises.
